Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

I'd never thought about what "Ebenezer" meant until someone explained it this morning- It comes from 1 Sam. 7:12.

12 Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah.[a] He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the Lord has helped us!”

Ebenezer refers to remembering a specific time when Christ came through for us when we were desperate for Him. In Joshua when they crossed the Jordan River, God instructed them to take stones from the center of the river as they miraculously passed through. These stones were "ebenezers" to how God delivered them.

just a cool thought--

More from "Captivating"

Unveiling our beauty really just means unveiling our feminine hearts. It's scary, for sure. That is why it is our greatest expression of faith, because we are going to have to trust Jesus- really trust him. We'll have to trust him that we have a beauty, that what he has said of us is true. And we'll have to trust him with how it goes when we offer it, because that is out of our control. We'll have to trust him when it hurts, and we'll have to trust him when we are finally seen and enjoyed. That's why unveiling our beauty is how we live by faith.
Unveiling our beauty is our greatest expression of hope. We hope that it will matter, that our beauty really does make a difference. We hope there is a greater and higher Beauty, hope we are reflecting that Beauty, and hope it will triumph. our hope is that all is well because of Jesus and that all will be well because of him. So we unveil beauty in hope. And finally, we unveil beauty in the hope that Jesus is growing our beauty. Yes, we are not yet what we long to be. But we are underway. Restoration has begun. To offer beauty now is an expression of hope that it will be completed.
And unveiling beauty is our greatest expression of love, because it is what the world most needs from us. When we choose not to hide, when we choose to offer our hearts, we ar echoosing to loe. Jesus offers; he invites; he is present. that is how he loves. that is how we love- sincerely, as the Scripture says, "from the heart" (1 Pet. 1:22). Our focus shifts from self-protection to the hearts of others. We offer Beauty so that their hearts might come a live, be healed, know God. That is love.

i'm not sure what i wrote this all down for- i just liked this passage a lot. hope it does something for someone out there.

"There is a radiance hidden in your heart that the world desperately needs." -Captivating

So i know i never write on this thing but i'm reading this amazing book and it has inspired me so this is mostly for me, and whoever still reads this i guess.....

"So God endows Woman with certain qualities that are essential to relationship, qualities that speak of God. She is inviting. She is vulnerable. She is tender. She embodies mercy. She is also fierce and fiercely deoted. As the old saying goes, 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.' that's just how God acts when he isn't chosen. 'I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god!' (Ex. 20:5 NLT)...Tender and inviting, intimate and allluring, fiercely devoted. Oh yes, our God has a passionate, romantic heart."

I love the thought that God yearns to have a relationship with me. He desires a relationship with me MORE than I even have the capacity to realize or respond to.

which brings me to the other thing i loved that i read....

"Beauty is, without question, the most essential and the most misunderstood of all of God's qualities- of all feminine qualities too. We know it has caused untold pain in the lives of women. But even there something is speaking. Why so much heartache over beauty? We don't ache over being geniuses, or fabulouse hockey players. Women ache over the issue of beauty- they ache to be beautiful, to believe they are beautiful, and they worry over keeping it if ever they can find it....A woman knows, down in her sould, that she longs to bring beauty to the world. She might be mistaken on how (somethign every woman struggles with), but she longs for a beauty to unveil. This is not just culture, or the need to 'get a man.' This is in her heart, part of her design."

i have to say i fall into this sort of steryotype. beauty is one of those things that you don't really want to address the fact that you really do think about it. i don't like to admit that i struggle with the idea of desiring to be beautiful- but that doesn't make it any less true. i'm so comforted to know i'm not the only one.

so i know this was kinda long and i didn't actually say much- but maybe somebody out there will feel the same way about this that i do. or maybe it's just me...
